SPERM DONATION: Supplies of donor sperm are
unpredictable. The clinic seeks to obtain donor sperm from supplying centres,
which may include overseas clinics. When available, charges are levied
according to the costs of buying, shipping and storing samples. Currently a
charge of approx. £2,000 is payable to obtain, transport and store sufficient
sperm for a course of up to six treatments. The individual treatment cycle
costs for which the sperm will be used e.g. for IUI or IVF and the HFEA fee
(£52 or £105 depending upon the type of treatment) are also applicable. |

|
|
|
REFUNDS: |
|
|
A deposit of £500 is payable when a couple
reserves an IVF treatment slot. This may not be refunded if the couple
withdraw before treatment starts for non-medical reasons and is also payable
if treatment has started but is abandoned before egg collection. If treatment
proceeds to egg collection but there are no embryos suitable for transfer a
refund of £300 will be made. If it is not possible to undertake fresh embryo
transfer after egg collection and embryo culture for medical reasons e.g.
risk of ovarian hyperstimulation, the clinic may undertake to freeze and
store embryos for up to one year and arrange a frozen embryo transfer cycle
at no additional cost other than the drug costs for a FET cycle as above. In the event that no embryos survive thawing
for a frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycle a refund of £205 from the cost of
the treatment cycle will be made. |

|
COSTED TREATMENT PLANS: |
|
|
The total costs for couples seeking or
undergoing treatment are usually made up from ‘one-off’ costs, such as initial
consultations and investigations, drug costs, the treatment cycle costs, the
HFEA fee (where applicable), and the costs of supplementary procedures e.g.
ICSI or embryo freezing. Some of these, such as the drugs costs or the HFEA
fee, may change due to circumstances beyond the clinic’s control, and
sometimes couples may require additional drugs, investigations or procedures
beyond those that were planned at the outset of treatment. In some cases
investigations may also have been previously performed e.g. by the general
practitioner. As a general indication of how to calculate approximate likely
costs, however, some ‘Costed Treatment Plan’ examples have been presented
